I was expecting otherwise when I picked up this book. The narrative is lyrical and flowing, the images are cheery and nostalgic and funky. I like them both separately, I like them both apart from each other. The prose is too good to be distracted by cleverly cheeky doodles, the drawings are too savvy to have to split one's mental space with heavy handed verbiage. The haiku-like forms stand on their own, and should have been left as such. The pictorial glyphs are too involving, too up, too happy sound; they are playground chant to cold threnody. There is no dance between the images and words, and there ought to be in such an instance.Product details
